Financial Woes

Considering all of the financial woes right now I'm convinced our country will be in some trouble for the foreseeable future. As a hedge against inflation caused from government spending, borrowing and printing I have recently been purchasing gold and would encourage others to take some portion of their cash assets and convert them to gold. The best place I've found is bullionvault.com. Buy gold online - quickly, safely and at low prices

Obama's New America

It has been a while since I've posted an article and I've been busy with life. My biggest worry right now is the way our country is being fundamentally changed and is no longer recognizable. We are no longer following our founding principles or care about Liberty in the US. This country has unfortunately turned to the state to provide for the people rather that people providing for themselves and using their freedom to produce. We are trying to take an easy way out and get something for nothing. Unfortunately we are giving up the very liberties our founding fathers fought and died for in exchange for Hope and Change. This Hope and Change is neither new nor will it work. I pray that God would be with our country and guide are leaders to his path and give guidance. God save our land!

Weakness... Where have all the Real Men Gone?

I've been thinking about how weak we have been prosecuting this war. How the president has to outline and make a policy that we will now go after Iranian operatives trying to undermine Iraq. What ever happened to our army fighting an all out war? Why would we need to get presidential approval for that? I'm convinced we need to change the rules of engagement in this war to win.

Now don't get me wrong, I am a supporter of the president but he is handcuffed by lawyers throughout the Pentagon and the Military. Rules of engagement should protect our troops and be made with the goal in mind to win the war not protect the U.S. from liability. We should be able to return fire no matter where the fire is coming from, a mosque, a school, a house. And we should also impose a media blackout in Baghdad and then move to crush the militias and insurgents. This should have been done the minute Sadr refused to disarm.

That is what our Senate should be voting on, a resolution to encourage the president to do whatever it takes for victory. Our GOP has gone over the cliff and I feel I've no home anymore.

Where have all the real warriors gone? Where is Winston Churchill, where is General Patton, General MacArthur, President
Reagan?

What are we voting for?

What are we really voting for in this midterm election. The bottom line is, in the United States Senate, we are voting for the future of our country. The future of the United States Supreme Court could be in the balance over the next 6 years, as there could be as many as 6 Supreme Court justices up for retirement. Not to mention what will happen with the War on Terror.

The Supreme Court has handed down some pretty crazy rulings lately including the 5-4 Kelo decision giving the federal state and local governments a free reign to take private property away from individuals for just about any reason. As long as the government comes up with a reason that meets the stringent criteria of for the “public good”, they can take your property. Well I guess it would benefit the government to tear down your house and put up a high rise apartment building, right? More tax revenue for the government and more people would be able to live on that plot of land. Sounds like the common good to me.

Don’t forget about the latest Hamdan decision giving Geneva Convention protection to Terrorists despite the fact that the Geneva Conventions were meant to be applied to signatories of the Conventions (which Al qaeda is not) and would only apply to uniformed P.O.Ws, civilians and organized militias, not shadowing terrorist groups hiding amongst the civilian population. The ruling is a move towards giving more rights to terrorist and possibly, down the road, constitutional rights, which would severely hamper the War on Terror.

What does this mean to the Senate races? Well surely a liberal leaning Democrats would block strict constructionist jurists in favor of activist judges who rule out of their own political leanings. They read into the law instead of applying the laws as written.

Do we want to win the War on Terror? Whatever you think about the Iraq war we are there and we must deal with that responsibly. Make no mistake about it a vote for a Senate Democrat, is a vote for the Democrats in charge of National Security, and will result in a “new direction” in Iraq, that’s called defeat, and that would be a defeat in the war on terror. Not mention we would be stuck getting more activist judges like John Paul Stevens on the bench, which would surely be a defeat for property rights and the War on Terror.

WAKE UP, IT's WWIII!

To all you do nothing Democrats out there. WAKE UP IT's WWIII.

It was World War III when we were attacked by Islamic Fascists on 9/11. Now they have grown even stronger. There are 2 kinds of Islamic terrorists. We must recognize this; we were attacked by Sunnis/Wahhabis (al Qaeda) on September 11. We counter attacked by invading Afghanistan. Rooting out those terrorists was a victory for the U.S.

Then we attacked Iraq. Now whether you agree with the invasion of Iraq or not (I happen to agree but that is for another blog) is irrelevant. We are there and we can not retreat. Bin Laden specifically said the motivation behind 9/11 was proving the U.S. was a paper tiger. He thought that the U.S. would abandon a war as soon as it took casualties (And he may be right if some of you have your way) as it did in Somalia and in Lebanon. Face it we can not leave Iraq.

Now however we are being attacked by a different type of Islamic fascists. We are fighting Shiites (Hezbollah, Syria, Iran). The Shiites are now interfering in Iraq and making it extremely difficult for our troops and the new Iraqi government. The Shiites are supported and take their orders from Iran. Hezbollah is also fighting Israel and the U.S. Iran's goal is to take over the Middle East and destroy Israel, if they succeed in forcing us out of Iraq they can set up a puppet government and eventually move on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This would result in Iran slaughtering thousands of Sunnis and taking over all the Middle East oil. You may laugh at these plans but before Hitler invaded Poland everyone thought Hitler wasn't capable of taking over Europe.

The Iranians are supplied arms by China, Russia and North Korea. This constitutes a World War. We must come to this realization. I am not asking for us to attack China, Russia, or North Korea necessarily, we must take one battle at a time. But we have to come to this understanding and know who are enemy is. Wake up we must defeat Islamic terrorism and our current difficulties in Iraq are because of Iran. I recommend that we fund dissidents in Iran and eventually decapitate Iran.

The new appeasement vocabulary: Restraint

I am trying to figure out the media and politicians use of the word restraint. I don’t get it, why are we telling Israel to use restraint. Just making that statement implies that Israel normally would deliberately target civilians while attacking. Why does “restraint” need to be used? The Geneva Conventions already restrain Israel in its’ tactics just as it does any other country. What other restraint is needed? (I will note that Hamas and Hezbollah are not signatories to the Geneva Conventions nor do they abide by them)  Fighting a war with one hand tied behind your back does not make a winning strategy (see Vietnam). Are these terrorist not the same people we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Exercising restraint in the face of terrorism is probably the worst strategy there is. Islamic fascism and all Islamic terrorist groups must be decimated and wiped of the face of the planet. Restraint and mercy can not be shown to these people (I use that term loosely). What ever happen to total war? Why if we (the U.S. and Israel and any other allies with a spine) ran the war according to the Geneva conventions, combatants that are not properly dressed and are not apart of a standing army can be shot on the spot as spies. Maybe we should show less restraint and really put the fear of God into these terrorists. Other countries and people may not like us but at least they will fear us and think twice before fighting against us.

Defeating North Korea

What to do about North Korea? I have heard many say we don't have a viable military option. If this is true we are wasting a lot of time in these diplomatic machinations. If we keep saying there are no viable military options with North Korea and the Kim Jong Il knows this we have really no leverage over him. Lets face sanctions don't work, basically we already have sanctions in place against North Korea but Kim still finds a way to get money to his military and starve his people. Look at how great sanctions worked against Sadaam (Oil for food program).

I really think the only option we have is a military option or at least the threat of a military option. I think we really need to start rattling the sabers (behind closed doors) and tell this dictator we are going to wipe you off the face of the earth and we don't care if Seoul gets smoked. I think this is the only thing that will bring North Korea away from the brink of war, but I only give it a 35% chance of working. Remember we are dealing with a very crazy man. This is very troubling but it seems like Japan will be on board and hopefully the new government in South Korea will get on board. It is time to start being tough with this guy and scare the pants off of him. Another avenue that has to be explored is special operations that could target Kim Jong Il in a limited military strike, which would hopefully eliminate the problem without a huge war, invasion, and Seoul being destroyed.

Bono's Mistaken Poverty Crusade

If you guys woke up this morning and went to Yahoo, you would have seen a big picture of bono asking a question on how to make poverty history. I love Bono and think he really means well but he is sadly mistaken on his quest to make poverty in Africa history. One of his major proposals is to reduce the African countries' debt along with increasing foreign aid. Talk about one of the best way to increase poverty in Africa. History (Welfare in America) has shown us making people dependent on handouts from others destroys there ability to be self-sufficient and productive. What makes him think continually increasing handouts to corrupt political leaders in Africa who are constantly involved in civil wars is going to solve poverty.

The only way to minimize poverty (you will never eliminate poverty... a wise man once said that the poor will always be with us...hmm I wonder who that would be) is to utilize the power of capitalism to create skilled jobs for the majority of Africans. For that to happen the corrupt governments must be toppled by there people and economic freedom must be set up by the new governments with the support of strong private property rights. Criminals need to be eliminated (either through detention or execution) so people can succeed with out there wealth being stolen.  Freedom will truly unleash the entrepreneurial spirit and help people succeed and help minimize poverty. Bono's handouts will not help, getting rid of despots and letting freedom work is the only way to prosperity and out of poverty.
